After an incredible season — albeit with a disappointing end at the National Invitation Tournament — multiple Tigers were given one more award for their trophy cases.
On March 15, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) awarded four Tigers with All-District titles. Junior forward Tosan Evbuomwan was named First-Team All-District. Senior guards Jaelin Llewellyn and Ethan Wright were both named Second-Team All District, and Head Coach Mitch Henderson was selected as District 13 Coach of the Year. NABC’s District 13 includes Ivy League schools and small Division I colleges in the Northeast.
Evbuomwan was also named the Ivy League Player of the Year earlier this month. The dominant, 6’8” forward ended the season with averages of 16.0 points per game, 6.7 rebounds per game, and 5.1 assists per game. Evbuomwan also earned First Team All-Ivy League honors and was selected for the Ivy Madness All-Tournament Team.
He played a critical role in Princeton’s success all season, consistently scoring crucial late-game baskets, including a layup against Cornell in the semi-final game of the Ivy League Tournament that put Princeton ahead by two with 36 seconds remaining. The Tigers ultimately won by two en route to the championship game.
Llewellyn and Wright also added the NABC awards to their honors collection. Llewellyn, received First Team All-Ivy honors, and Wright received Second-Team All-Ivy honors. Both joined Evbuomwan in averaging over 14 points per game this season.
The award is Henderson’s first major honor this year. He was beaten out for Ivy Coach of the Year by Brian Earl ’99, the head coach of Cornell.
